Las Vegas for a second timer

Good evening.

First time posting on Fodor's. My girlfriend and I will be going to L.V. from July 15-18, 2015, staying at the LINQ. It will be my second trip to Vegas, her first. We won't have a car so we'll use public transit and taxis to get around. We will arrive early on the afternoon on July 15 and seeing the early evening shows (one for each evening) of O at Bellagio, Terry Fator at Mirage, and Beatles Love at Mirage. We like to eat chicken, steak, Italian, burgers, Chinese, and hearty breakfast food. I would like to see the Bellagio fountains, get a picture in front of the Las Vegas sign, play some mini golf, check out a couple of the unique museums, and generally not gamble. Any tips? Thank you.

Jim

Hash House a Go Go at the Quad for hearty breakfast food. Grand Luxe Café is good too...you'll want to share at either place as portions are humungous.

Canaletto in the Venetian for Italian in a nice setting at very reasonable prices.

Stack for a good burger before or after your show at the Mirage.

Budget a bit extra for taxis as you won't want to walk around much in the 115 degree heat.

I have only gambled maybe, $100, in the 3 times I have been to LV. There is so much to see in the various resorts. Try to see Hoover Dam. Loved the tour.

I enjoyed the helicopter flight over the strip. We went with Maverick. Get either a seat in the front or the seat in the back on the left hand side for the best view of the Strip. We ate at a restaurant in the Bellagio called Olives. We had a table overlooking the fountains and it was lovely food and a divine view.

Consider the High Roller. Especially at night it is terrific.

I saw both Love and Terry Fator in late January. I enjoyed Love but don't expect it to be as "WOW" as many other Circ shows. The music can't be beat of course.

I was really looking forward to Terry Fator -- but maybe I've just moved beyond/out grown ventriloquists. In fact the opening emcee/DJ was more entertaining in a lot of ways. Don't get me wrong - the show was fun but not really exceptional.

Janis. Good to know. Some friends saw him and loved it. This was a few years back, so maybe the show has changed.

It was OK -- but maybe my expectations were just too high. I don't regret seeing him but some of the humor was of the groan variety, not laugh out loud.
