Las Vegas: Day Trip to Valley of Fire -Suggestions

Heading out to Vegas this week and wanted to see if anyone has been to Valley of Fire (VoF)? Wife and I are interested in some easy to medium hikes. We plan on departing Vegas around 8:00am. I think the trip out is 1.5 hours. No hurried plans to get back other than a morning flight. Also, any good casual places to eat out that way? Also, on our return I was thinking of stopping by Hoover Dam. Is that within reason? All suggestions welcome on a day trip to Valley of Fire!

Continue to the east from Valley of Fire to get to Lakeshore Road. Go south and eventually you will come to US 93 a couple miles west of the road down into Hoover Dam.

I did this day trip several years ago and got back to Las Vegas before sundown.
Park at the second parking lot after you cross the dam to avoid the rip off parking garage on the Nevada side.
There is a parking lot on the way back up to walk on a paved path up to the walkway on the new high bridge.
If the weather is good you should walk on the walkway at least as far as the apex of the bridge which is close to the state line (both marked).
Eat a good breakfast before leaving LV. After you see the dam you should get a big buffet meal at the Hoover Dam Lodge.

In VoF, do the hike out to Mouse's tank and check out the petroglyphs on the left hand side on the way out.

Climb up the stairs at atl all rock to see the petroglyphs there and look at the cliffs to the right of the picnic area there for more.

Hike around the beehive area.

Check out the CCC cabins.

Go out to Panoramic Point.

Take water and food with you to Valley of Fire. There is nothing much out there in that respect.
