Las Vegas city tours & grocery stores

We're going to Vegas in a few weeks and are taking my parents with us - they enjoy 1/2 day bus tours - can anyone recommend a good one for the city of Las Vegas?

Also, are there any grocery stores near or on the strip?

There's an Albertsons, 1300 E. Flamingo Road, east of "the strip" on Flamingo. It's the one we go to. Depending on where you are staying on the strip, there are other Albertsons around town. Don't know about any bus tours. Check www.visitlasvegas.com. It's the official web site of the Vegas visitors and convention bureau, lots of good information.

BTW - the Albertsons on Flamingo is NOT within walking distance of the strip. We drive or take the bus there if we don't have a rental car.

I don't know about city tours, I took out of Vegas tours. 1/2 day tour to Red Rock canyon - very good one! And a full day tour to the Valley of Fire - even better then Red Rock!

There are also tours of the Hoover Dam - with or without visiting the Ethel M chocolate factory and cactus garden.

There's a Walgreens close to the Coke bottle place (where you buy discount show tickets) on the Strip. It's as close as you're going to get to a grocery store on the strip.

We drive to a Von's that's in a strip mall with a place that does fluff-and-dry.

Like many places, there are several Wal Marts around. Non within walking distance. Ask any employee/local for a grocery store when you get there.

I must say that is an interesting request for Strip visitors....whatcha shoppin for?

mimi1968 - there is also a small grocery store on the corner of Flamingo and Audrie, connected to Battista's. It's on the north side of Flamingo, across the street from Ballys. It has most of what you might want for basics, including milk, although at Quik Trip prices.

The Vons that Happytrails is talking about is on Tropicana & Maryland Pkwy, depending on where you stay on the Strip it is probably the same distance as the Albertsons on Flamingo. I used to work front desk and actually the request for groceries and/or fresh products like fruit is not uncommon. It is very difficult to walk the Strip and find someone selling fresh fruit, don't know why, so whomever should venture forward and open a tiny market that sells fresh items would probably do very good!
