Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival
We will be in Tahoe this summer and are interested in the Shakespeare Festival. Has anyone attended a performance? Should we get tickets now (for August) or is it something that we can do the week we are there and see what the weather is, what our other options are for that evening, etc?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You don't need to book yet but I would well ahead of your trip if you want a cafe table or close seat.
It is a fantastic venue -- Go early and explore the whole park. Sand Harbor is hands down the prettiest spot on the lake.

Thank you so much for your response. In your opinion, are the cafe tables or close seats worth the premium price or are the general seating areas just as good? We are bringing our boys are I really want it to be a great experience for them to help foster a love of theater and Shakespeare. So, I am willing to pay a premium if that will provide a better experience.

Oh - any seats are fine but I probably wouldn't book in the upper galleries. In those areas there will be a combo of the theater's chairs, people bringing their own camp chairs, and folks sitting on picnic blankets.
If the budget allows, I really like the cafe tables, but the lower gallery/assigned seats are fine too for about half the price. If you have a specific date I'd probably go ahead and book if you want premium seats. they do sell out.

Agreed. At least it's one of them imo. But parking is limited, so if you can't go early, forget about driving and take the shuttle from Incline Village.

Yes. Parking is a reason to go early. But the reward of exploring Sand Harbor is worth it.
If you arrive after 5PM parking is free w/ your tickets. Earlier than that you will have to pay the parking fee for the state park.
IME -- if you arrive around 5PM-5:30PM you won't have any problem w/ parking. The park 'closes' at 7PM but day trippers there for the beach/park will either be gone or leaving by 5:00 and theatre goers will only be trickling in.
