Lake Tahoe Ponderosa Closes
Thought I would post this for visitors who look for things to do in Tahoe and may have an older travel guide.
The 570 acre location of the western TV show Bononza has been sold to a developer and has now closed. This past weekend marked the end of the nearly 40 year attraction. The developer claims to have no immediate plans for the land. Government agencies managed to gather $50 to buy the land a preserve it but were unable to make a deal before the developer obtained it.

I loved Bonanza too, but I won't shed a tear over the closing of this place. I guess there are those who liked it --they say mainly foreign tourists were its biggest fans, but I forgot to list this place on that thread about biggest tourist rip-offs. The advertising even led you to believe the show was filmed there.

LOL Patrick, I can imagine the ripoff factor. I've only driven by the Ponderosa. In all the 40 some years I've been going to Tahoe never once was I interested in spending time or money there.
