Lake Tahoe honeymoon in November
Hello!! We are trying to decide where to go for our honeymoon November 2016 and came across Lake Tahoe for an option. We want western mountains, cool/cold weather (we're from Florida and need it!) and a log cabin! We're also on a fairly low budget with a $3,000 MAX for the total vacation. Can anyone recommend any good hotels/ places to stay in Lake Tahoe? I am also open to other suggestions for locations as well!! Thank you!!!

Well, it's 30 degrees (feels like 26) right now in Stateline, NV (which is the south shore of Lake Tahoe) and it's November, so it satisfies your cool/cold requirement! The biggest problem with Tahoe in November is that it's way past summer season (when seasonable things are open, like boats on the lake) and not yet ski season (when other seasonable things are open, like snow parks and ski areas) so it would depend on what you want to do. I imagine it's great for taking long walks!

When in November? -- Thanksgiving is popular at Tahoe so rates do go up. But the rest of the month is low season so you can probably find a nice place w/i your budget.
But as sf7307 says -- there won't be many activities except walking/hiking, bike riding if there isn't snow, dining, and gambling. You could do day trip(s) to Virginia City and/or Truckee and take the gondola to the top of Heavenly Valley for amazing views.

November would probably be reasonable at most mountain/ski resorts since it isn't really ski season yet. SO there are various places you could consider that might have more to do. If you just want to do nothing and hike a bit, Tahoe isn't a bad idea, actually, at least it has the beautiful lake and some good restaurants. Places in Colorado might be colder, for example, but that's another idea. Salt Lake City isn't that exciting IMO, nor Park City, for a whole honeymoon, but it's possible.
Even Aspen, CO is fairly reasonable in early November for lodging. YOu don't say how long your desired stay is, so who knows -- but if a week, that's about $400 a day for food and lodging (I guess if that includes airfare, more like $300 a day for both, depending where you are coming from). The place I usually stay in Aspen during ski season is only half the rate in early November (about $150 a night). It's not deluxe, though.
If you want a log cabin at Tahoe, you could look for a vacation rental. When I go there, I just stay at Harvey's, they usually have better deals than Harrahs, and it's so convenient for skiing, but you won't have that consideration. There are certainly nicer places, I'm sure. Here's a cabin, for example, for about $1500 a week in November at Tahoe http://www.tripadvisor.com/VacationR...alifornia.html

Have you been to the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Vermont, or Maine?
You might be able to catch the fall foliage if you go early enough.
It isn't a HUGE touristy place so places to stay arent outrageous.
I recommend North Conway, NH. Charming town with shopping, breweries and pubs, and the mountains at your fingertips.
But, I've also am dieing to see Lake Tahoe, and was going to go in April but other forums told us we are better off going in the summer.
