Lake Huron Circle Tour
My husband and I are taking a motorcycle trip around Lake Huron (USA side and Canada side). We prefer smaller, windier, "funner" roads. We try to avoid interestates and large cities if possible. Looking for highlights NOT to miss on Lake Huron. We have 5-7 days to do it. We are (and have to) start in Sandusky, MI. Love great places to eat, like going where locals go, and unique buildings. We need nice places to stay--we like B&B's and reputable hotels. What should we definitely see/avoid?
We are going the third week of September
Would appreciate any advice.

I'm a little unclear - are you circumnavigating the lake or just planning to do part of it?
You could drive up to Tobermory (tip of the Bruce Peninsula) and take the ferry across to Manitoulin Island. From there you can get back onto the Trans Canada via a bridge and continue to Sault Ste. Marie.

At the Soo (Sault Ste. Marie), be sure to visit the Locks, then head southeast along the St. Mary's River, including a ferry ride (with your bike) to Drummond Island.
Mackinac Island is very cool! There are also nice attractions in Mackinaw City. From Mackinaw south along Lake Huron, there are several lighthouses which are open to the public.
Unless you add a stretch along Lake Superior, you will miss the many great Upper Penninsula waterfalls, but you will be passing close to a neat Lower Penninsula falls near Roger's City. Although Ocqueoc Falls is rather small, it is quite beautiful.
I recomend Deer Head Inn Bed and Breakfast in Mackinaw City.
