Laguna or Newport Beach Lodging
Hey all,
Anyone familiar with a 'deal' on lodging in Laguna or Newport Beach for this summer?
Several fodorites recommended Laguna Rivera years ago & we loved it for a couple nights on one of our cross country trips. At the time it was definitely a deal, but not so much now, at least for us. This is a trip of many nights - but only a couple there - so need to keep expenses down.
So does anyone know of a hidden gem in the area? I'm sure there aren't any deals oceanfront, but it would be nice to be able to walk to the beach.
TIA.

We have not stayed here, but have been to two Pacifica Group sister properties in L.A. The site says this one is newly remodeled, and there are some specials, too:

Thanks, Tabernash2. It looks really nice, but still hoping for something less expensive.
Again, i realize something less expensive won't be oceanfront.
Any other thoughts or ideas of a place close to the beach but less pricey?

Someone else might know, but I don't. Sorry.
You have picked two of the most expensive places to stay: Newport and Laguna. But Newport has some chain hotels, and next door Huntington Beach is less expensive.

Laguna Hills Lodge or Ayres Laguna Woods are two of the better budget choices in the area, but are not walking distance to the ocean. Best Western Marina Shore in Dana Point might work for you, recently renovated and walking distance to the beach.
