I'm going to be in San Diego and would like opinions on La Pensione. There's no A/C, and my stay is in August. Has anyone stayed there and what do you think?

If you mean La Pensione Hotel on India Street it is located in a section called Little Italy about 1/4 of a mile inland from the bay front and about a mile from the center of town. It is a safe but modest area with many small italian restautrants and the bakery where we buy much of our bread. The hotel building is only a few years old and has a small cafe with outside tables. It is two blocks from the trolly station from which you can travel from the border of Mexico to Old Town and soon to the major shopping centers in Mission Valley and the football statium. Since we live in San Diego, we have not stayed there or been inside the rooms. It looks to be a modest priced hotel which might have a lot of charm compared to the typical bargain priced motel. We don't have air conditioning at home and would not feel that it is needed this near the water. Tonight is overcast, the humidity is about 70%25 and the outside temperature is 70F at 10PM. The need for air conditioning is a matter of personal taste. If you are depending on public transportation, it is not a bad location. A lot depends on their room rates and what is provided.
I stayed in La Pensione in July, and they have a fan in the rooms, microwave, refrigerator. So it is a really good hotel for the price that we got 45$ for two poeple.
Just read the last message. My wife said the price is right lets move down there. I think you will like it.
