LA Hotel/Good access LA County Museum

I'm going down to LA for John Singer Sargent exhibition at LA County Museum, any recommendations for good hotel (3* or above) which is in easy driving distance. Friends have recommended flying into Burbank and staying in W.Hollywood or Beverly Hiils. Any comments?

Try the Beverly Plaza www.beverlyplazahotel.com - it's a small boutique hotel located on Third Street between Fairfax and La Cienega. You're 10 minutes or less drive time to LACMA (right on Third, right on Fairfax, and left on Wilshire, museum will be on left side). From the Beverly Plaza you can also walk to the Beverly Center, Farmers Market, and the Grove, plus numerous restaurants.

Good suggestion from Patty. Also, try the Elan. Moderne small hotel on Beverly Blvd/LaCienega It's just north of the Beverly Plaza neighborhood. Easy drive to LACMA, walk to restaurants, movies, etc.

The new Renaissance Hollywood is about halfway between the Burbank Airport and the Museum, easily accessible to and from both. It's at the new Hollywood and Highland Center & the Chinese Theatre.

Let us know how long you will be in LA. Are there other things you want to see? The LA County Museum is pretty accessible--you should decide whether you want to stay near the ocean or in Beverly Hills............

Let me know and I can give you some suggestions. I don't think you need to fly in to Burbank.

I worked at LACMA, the museum you speak of, for many years. IMO Beverly Hills would be the nicest nearby place to have your hotel. It's about 10 minutes drive down Wilshire from where LACMA is ....most of that time is waiting for the many traffic lights to change. LAX is far closer to LACMA or Bev Hills than Burbank airport. IMO it would be much better to fly there.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm only going to LA for the weekend to visit the LACMA so I don't intend to do much more than dinner and a little shopping. Why LAX over Burbank? It's been a while since I've been to LA but usually fly into Burbank, I recall having better luck with traffic.

I would stay in Beverly Hills then. LAX is much closer than Burbank to the West side of LA.
