LA for a day and a half - where to stay??
Into LA 2/7 about 2pm, leaving 2/9, need to get to airport at about 8am. Wondering about suggestions for places to stay that would leave us the easiest drive back to the airport on the 9th. We do have tickets for a Leno taping in Burbank on the 8th, so just kind of looking for some thoughts from all of you great advisors! We would rather not stay right next to the airport due to noise concerns. We are planning on renting a car. Thanks!

Just a FYI most of the airport hotels have noise insulation on the windows.
Do you care about budget?
Communities near the airport include Marina del Rey, Westchester, El Segundo and Manhattan Beach, typically you will not have a parking charge if staying at these hotels.

Well somewhat, especially as we don't plan to spend much time in the room...

The Ayres in Hawthorne (just adjacent to MB) is pretty nice, if you have a car. Good restaurant inside and right near the freeway. Just down Rosecrans from Manhattan Beach's beach.

Well I appreciate all the suggestions. I will check them out My thought was to look at all the suggestions and decide based on location, amenities, and cost. If you are not comfortable without knowing an exact number, so be it, especially since my final cost would not be available to you. Thanks mlgb

Foghorn Harbor Inn in Marina del Rey or the Marina International. They are just a 10 min drive to the airport at that time of morning, and are in a nice quiet area.
After Leno, you won't want to head west until after 8pm however, traffic is a concern. Plan on dinner in Burbank or nearby.

Not sure when Leno gets out but here are a few Burbank (Toluca Lake) food suggestions for before or after (always check times, whether reservations are needed): Prosecco (italian), Sweet Salt (cafe run by former Top Chef contestant), Mo's (a Burbank institution), Bob's Big Boy (classic California architecture), Paquito Mas (taco stand). If you want to stay in Burbank and not drive back after the show, the Hotel Amarano is a nice boutique hotel. But, you'll need to leave pretty early to get to LAX airport by 8am. I usually recommend staying closer to the airport (such as the above posters suggested) but thought I'd throw it out there for you or others heading to Burbank.
Also nearby in Glendale is Palate - a fine dining restaurant with artisanal cheeses, rustic fare with an emphasis on locally grown, sustainable etc. Mostly it is just fine ingredients, simply prepared. And a pretty extensive wine list (including a wine shop in the back).

My goodness -- what a goofy response! We spend a lot of time suggesting places to stay -- but advice isn't very helpful if it is hundreds more than one wants to pay -- or is a budget property and you want posh. Of course we don't need an 'exact number'. But an approx. budget is helpful.
But you seem to be uncomfortable -- so be it.

Polson and griswold, appreciate the restaurant suggestions. we will definitely plan to stay in Burbank as suggested. Did book a hotel in Redondo Beach. Looking forward to a great time!
