Kohler, Wisconsin visit?
We will be in Kohler the second weekend in June, celebrating a birthday. This is our first visit. We are staying at the Inn on Woodlake, might switch to the American Club. Does anyone have any restaraunt recommendations or a "must do"? Thank you, any input is appreciated. Mary

mary: Unless you are a golfer, there isn't a whole lot to do in Kohler, to tell the truth. We stayed at the American Club and LOVED the room!!! There are two restaurants at the American Club, one requires a coat & tie, I believe. Unfortunately, we stayed on a Sunday night & the "fancy" restaurant was closed at that time of year.

You will love visiting the Kohler store, with an array of different fab bathroom designs featuring their fixtures. At the very least you will end up going home and renovating your master bath. I would stay at The American Club, it is a very quiet town. Have fun!

shop at woodlake in kohler, nearby cedarburg or drive to door county where the chicago tourists go.
museums: EAA in oshkosh, maritime museum in manitowoc, kohler art center in sheboygan, Milwaukee public museum.
sports: golf, take in a brewers game or visit packers hall of fame. Every go fishing on a charter boat?
outdoors: terry andre state park or kettle moraine state park.
You're staying at the Midwest's best golf resort. Very upscale. Eat at the Sports Core or Horse'N Plow for more casual dining in Kohler.

Since I live only 10 miles from Kohler I'm full of suggestions, but will tell you about my personal favorites.
Dine at Black Wolf Run, and Cucina's.
For local flavor I'd suggest lunch at a little hole-in-the-wall diner in nearby Sheboygan called Charcoal Inn South; try their steak sandwich or one of Sheboygan's world famous brats ( made the way the locals do).
Do not miss driving along the Sheboygan shoreline; take a walk along the Boardwalk.
A drive out to the west side of Sheboygan County is also a 'must see'. The driving tour is called 'Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive'. I'm sure The American Club will furnish information on everything I've mentioned amd more.
If you are into antiques try Plymouth (10 miles west of Kohler) it has at least six shops. You pass Plymouth on your way to the Scenic Drive.
Trust me; A trip to Kohler isn't complete until you've included all of the above.
If you have any questions I'd be happy to help you if I can. Just send me an e-mail.
