Knock Off Shopping in NYC
Disclaimer: I know nothing about fashion. Nothing. But here is an ignoramus's guide to knock offs.
1. There was never a person named Moe Vado.
2. Rolexxx is not a porno film.
3. $1,000 bags rarely say "Thank you for shopping with us."
4. $1,000 bags rarely match flip flops.
5. If you see 12 guys selling watches from suitcases, chances are the suitcases were stolen also.
6. If you see the salesman being led off in handcuffs, chances are he will not stand behind his return policy.

It's not just New York - 40 years ago at the Paris flea market, we almost bought (for the fun of it) a "Rolez" watch. I'm sure it was destined to be an heirloom, but we couldn't afford it (even the Rolez, not a Rolex)

I remember lots of hissing at me in Shanghai..thought they were saying "watch your bag!" as in being concerned that I might be robbed and that I should literally watch my bag.
Only later did I realize that they were offering "watches and bags," as in fakes!
I see so many tourists with those giant black plastic garbage bags wandering around along Canal and side streets, prowling for Channel and P&G!
And take a look:
