ARe there any hotels with children's pools, kids clubs, videogame centers, babysitting etc..

I think Bellagio does not allow children, maybe current economy has changed it?

Las Vegas is not designed for children, but for adults. there are so many places they can;t go, so many things you don;t want them to see and limited things for them to do.

How old are the kids and how long will you be there? that may help with recos. But I can;t imagine them enjoying really upscale hotels and restaurants. Not aware which, if any, hotels have kids pools.

If you google it should tell you which hotels have kids pools.

my kids are 9, 6 and 3. Yes I know this is not the best family vacation destination, but we have to be there for 3 days for business conventions. We will be spending 4 days at ranch near the grand canyon where the children will be more welcome. Unfortunately, while in vegas my husband will be working full days, so I will have to manage the kids alone. My plan was to just hunker down by a nice pool with a mothers helped if I could find one through the hotel. I've had a lot of success in these situations in the past by taking advantage of the kids clubs at resorts and finding great hellers on staff to assist me. Considering the young ages of my children, I'm not interested in excursions to places like the hoover dam since my husband won't be available to help. Thanks again for any advice.

oops I meant helpers, not hellers. Must have been a Freudian slip since I'm talking about vegas

My father stayed at the Desert Rose for a business trip and liked it a lot. They are suites which would give you more room, no casino, and a pool.

It is just off the strip by Hooters.

I am planning a trip the beginning of June and we are staying at the Desert Rose. It was one of the top picks for families

Is it possible for you to stay out at Lake Las Vegas? I stayed at the Hyatt there twice - both with my dh on business - once we brought the family and had a blast - great pool for kids - slide etc - casino has limited hours - not a "vegas" feel -but your dh would need to make a sort of hellish commute depending on where/what he has to do...traffic is pretty harsh.

It's interesting that Dayenu mentioned the economy. I get promotional emails from MGM, and just recently they started advertising it as being "family-friendly." Lots of pictures of kids playing in the swimming pool. Maybe some of the hotels are trying to attract a new/different crowd?

I think there are things on the strip that could be of interest to children. The Shark's Reef at Mandalay Bay, the King Tut museum at the Luxor, the Bellagio Fountains, etc.

You might want to consider South Point. Within are a bowling alley, movie theater (ten choices), both well removed from the casino area, and other activities suitable for children. There's a good selection of dining/quick bites, at lower than Strip prices. Very nice hotel.

And, have a look on TripAdvisor for "100 Things to Do in Las Vegas with Children". Kids would probably enjoy Madame Tussaud's, the Antique Cars at Imperial Palace, and much more. And, highly, highly recommend Terry Fator's show!

While there is much in Las Vegas to "shield" from kids, if you're not going to gamble or drink 24/7, there's plenty of other things to do.

When we stayed at Paris last month, there were plenty of kids at the pool (and it's a nice one). We saw kids all over the place - and, amazingly, none that weren't supervised and well behaved.

Try Circus-Circus on the North end of the strip, or maybe Excalibur on the South end.

The Ex has a tram that links it to the Luxor & Mandalay, for the shark Reef.

DEFINITELY do the Shark Reef. Best aquarium!

Another resort place, but it is out a bit, is the Green Valley Ranch. Lots more amenities.

Do not go to Circus2, it is a dump. You may want to read the trip report from a recently returned parent as well as the advice she was given pre-trip. It is not a good place for kids.

Your title is really an oxymoron. Vegas gave up on the family friendly vacation destination several years ago & you know the tag-line now - "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". NYNY does have a game center up near the roller-coaster entrance, they also have an ESPN Zone. Some good shoes for kids as well - I'd start w/Lance Burton.

Shows, not shoes, although you will need good shoes w/all the walking. Where is the conference ?

Hi!

Here are some suggestions from our recent trip (March 09) to Vegas for a conference.

The Hilton has a kids' club (according to its web site). A friend of mine got a very good rate there. The Mariott Chalet something-or-other has a kids club too, but I don't know what their rates are.

As for sitters, I went through UNLV's career services center, posted an ad requesting resume, references, the works, and checked everything out. It went well.

We really enjoyed the Springs Preserve. The bus out there was cheap, but took a v e r y l o n g time. You might want to consider a taxi. They have tours on Monday, and a couple of other special events listed on their site.

The chocolate factory sounds fun (you might want to take along the Curious George story about his day in a chocolate factory or Charley and the Chocolate Factory) and not too hard to get to. We never made it out there.

There are several websites about Vegas pools that you can find through google. We wanted to go to the one at Mandalay Bay, but the weather didn't cooperate. Also, pools at MGM Grand and Monte Carlo have lazy river and wave pool, Excalibur's has waterfalls and slides and Golden Nuggett has water slide that goes through shark tank.

Restaurants I found before our trip:
Mon Ami Gabi in Harrahs—slightly pricey, but apps/salads are under 10, and smoked salmon app is $12. (entrees $20+, kids' meals ~$6). Go on a good behavior day and it should be good.
Café Ba Ba Ree Ba on W. side of strip. Happy hour 4-7 with $3 tapas, call ahead re: a child (702) 258-1211 or else he won't be allowed on a bar stool, and you can't get the apps elsewhere in the restaurant. (also has paella cooking class)

My son went to the Leid Discovery Center with the sitter, had a great time.

I believe the pinball hall of fame's new location is fairly close to the strip.

My 6-yr-old was not permitted on the roller coaster at New York, but I don't remember if it was a height restriction or age.

We spent several hours at the mall just south of the strip where Whole Foods is located. They have a nice playground which is extremely well supervised (no grown-ups on play equipment with several places to get food right next to it (but you cannot take anything to eat or drink into the playground enclosure).

You may know this since you've been to Vegas before, but I learned it halfway through a morning of cab rides: you can hire cabs or limos by the hour. I think the price was around $35.

Good luck!

The Lake Las Vegas Hyatt was mentioned above. Know that it is now a Loews property, and has nice/fun pools for kids.

The Desert Rose is behind Hooters, within walking distance of The MGM, but will have to cross a major road. The Desert Rose works well for families, but know that breakfast is simple, as is the pool (no slides, waterfalls..)

If you want on-strip, consider the MGM for their pools.

Circus-Circus has a lot for kids to do, but one pool is removed from the rooms area, and the property is dated.Go there for a day visit of arcade & show.
