Keys:peace and beauty

We're heading to Key West on March 7, will stay there 3 days, then plan to find "a place somehwere in the keys". Priorities:not too many spring breakers or children. We'd like to relax, swim in a nice pool, snorkel, enjoy nature. Under $200/night. suggestions?

I'm not sure if the price is right, but you should consider the Moorings in Islamorada. It's next door to the Cheeca Lodge and very quiet.

Although it it probably the least glamorous of the Keys, Key Largo fits your description. Snorkeling, canoeing/kayaking the mangrove islands, etc. You didn't mention how long you would be staying, but from Key Largo you can also do a half day or daytrip to the Everglades National Park (Key Largo is about 30 minutes away from the main gate). When my parents go to the Keys (every spring for 4 years) they stay at the Howard Johnson's resort (bayside in Key Largo). Under $200 a night, small beach with watersport rentals, nice pool. There are usually some families there but I've never seen it over run by children, and have never seen spring breakers.

Islamorada. It's a very beautiful key, and much more laid back than Key West (and closer). The Moorings and Cheeca are both nice places to stay. Check out www.fla-keys.com.
Have fun.

Our friends stayed at a place in Marathon a couple of years ago called Seascape on the Ocean. They raved about the place, how quiet it was and the fact that children under a certain age were not permitted.

The url is:
