Hi! DH and i are planning a trip to Key West the first week in April. We are in our 50's, love sitting on the beach, walking the beach, food, wine, shhopping, biking, boating, and beautiful water. We are looking for a hotel in the $300-ish a night range. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Key West Fun!

Just be aware that there aren't that many beaches to stroll on; yes there are a few places but Key West is very much a "lie around the pool" and "hang around the bars" kind of place.
You may find yourself doing a lot more "strolling" through the older part of town than on any beaches.
Dukey is right. If you're expecting a "beach vacation" you'll be sorely disappointed. The keys are coral and most beaches are tiny and man-made with imported sand.
In addition, you certainly don't need an agent to book anything in Key West. Two very nice hotels on the bay side of the island are the Ocean Key Resort and the Pier House. The Ocean Key doesn't have a beach, but the Pier House has a nice (but small) one. You also might want to consider the Hyatt Resort and Marina, which was recently remodeled and is next to the Pier House. One caveat about the Pier House is that lots of its rooms face a parking lot, so if you book there, be sure and try for a water view.
I'm partial to the bay side because that's where all the boat traffic is, and where you'll be able to book sunset cruises or other water activities. Good luck!
As already posted, Key West is not a beach destination. And although I've stayed in hotels, I much prefer a smaller Inn such as The Island City House. Such a place gives you the real "feel" of Key West. Sitting around a pool, strolling the streets of Old Town, eating great food, attending the Sunset at Mallory Square, renting scooters, getting out on the water: all much a part of the Key West experience.
