Key West best activities

I'm going to Key West in just under a week to spend some time with friends. What restaurants/activities do you recommend? And, should we be concerned about the weather? What's the one "don't miss" thing we have to do?

do a search of this board. it seems as though the #1 question posed for Key West is: "What are the best restaurants?" There are many, many, many, many answers.
As far as activities, anything to do with the water is the best activity inn the Keys.

Take the Conch Tour train ride as soon as you get there. It'll give you a sense of the island. Then, you can later go back to things of particular interest on your own.

Actually, right now, there's the Art in the Park out at Ft Zachary Taylor. And that's also the location of the best beach in Key West. You could go to the Waterfront Market and get the ingredients for a picnic, go out to the park, and make a day of it.

And in addition to catching the sunset festivities at Mallory Pier, catch at least one sunset from the top of La Concha.

We just returned from Key West and had a blast! We ate at A&B Losbter-excellent, Bagatelle, Mangoes, Michaels-great filet, Square 1 just to name a few. Conch Republic is great for drinks, lunch so is Hogs Breath. do the Duval Crawl and enjoy all the music. Heard some great Latin and Jazz at Virgilios. Ft Zachary Beach is pretty. Rent bicycles, great way to get around, have fun!

A day trip to the Dry Tortugas.

What ever you do, get out on the water for at least a day. You haven't really seen the keys until you've been on a boat in the keys.

Another thing to do that takes about an hour is the shipwreck museum. It is nice and cool in there. It was 90 degrees the day that I went so it was a nice reprieve. They have relics from a shipwreck from the 1840s. For those not in bad shape, it is neat to climb the tower to the top and be at the highest point in Key West and enjoy a panoramic view of the island.

There are two theaters in Key West which usually have pretty good plays. The Waterfront and the Red Barn.
