Key West - La Concha or Reach Resort?

I'm traveling to Key West for a SUnday - WEdnesday stay. Hotel prices are the same for the La Concha Hotel and The Reach resort. Which one is better? We are an engaged couple, mid-30's, no kids. We are interested in laying on the beach and also enjoying all of Duval Street. One has location ( La Concha) and the other seems to have a nice beach out back. Help!

La Concha is in the middle of town with no beach. Either the Wyndham Reach or the Wyndham Casa Marina (next door to each other) has its own man made beach.

You get to use both Wyndham's when you stay at one.

Key West has no natural beaches, they are all man made.

Please keep in mind there is not a lot in the way of good beaches in Key West. For that I would suggest Bahai Honda State Park. I've not stayed in either of the properties you mentioned, but I always advise folks to stay on Simonton or near the Marina in lieu of anything right on Duval. I know the LaConcha is right on Duval. Try the Heron House or Pilot House.

The Curry Mansion used to also have access to one of the hotel beaches & it has a great location.

Out of those 2, I'd suggest The Reach....The La Concha is right in the middle of Duval, but except for the pool, doesn't have much room to just veg out, away from Duval...also, if you walk from the Reach, you'll be able to experience all of Duval, the quiet end to the Crazy end, and all the shops in between....you can always grab a cab for the ride back. Also, bikes are a cheap alternative when the walking gets old...(if it does). You can rent them at lots of places for the day, or several days.

MISMAC,

We really enjoyed the Reach when we were there a few years ago. The sights right next door were a little surprising but that's Key West.

the reach is on the beach - but it's really not near duval street.

www.pierhouse.com - has it's own private beach - and it's pretty soft for key west. great spa too.
