Kauai in October

Jump to last reply

I'm headed to Kauai (north shore) in October. I'll be staying in a 2-bedroom condo with my husband, 2 small kids, and my in-laws. I have a few fairly specific questions I'm hoping someone can answer --

1) Is there a walk at Waimea Canyon that a 3-year-old can do? Any GREAT kid activities (besides pool and beach, obviously)?

2) Is there a place to snorkel, especially considering that we'll be on Kauai in October, when the water is rougher?

3) I can remember sitting on the patio at Duke's in Waikiki years ago and having a cocktail as the sun set ... is there an equivalent cocktail/sunset option on the North Shore? What is the Duke's at the Marriott like?

4) How long will a round-the-island trip take? Is this worth doing? How windy is the road?

5) Any interesting places to shop on the north shore -- local, small shops and nothing too big or commercial?

6) Is there any single thing that we MUST, must, must do while visiting Kauai?

7) I'd love to take my kids to an authentic Polynesian show, but I am doubting I can find that -- help!?

Thank you!!!!
