Kauai helicopter tour - best time of day?
When I booked my helicopter tour (with Air Kauai)for June, I was told by the reservationist that she had taken heli tours at 3 different times of the day (a.m., noon, and afternoon) and her favorite time was afternoon. She said it was because the Napali Coast and the Waimea Canyon were on the West and they were better lit by the sun in the afternoon. Made since to me, so I booked our tour for 2:00 p.m. Has anyone been on an afternoon tour that can confirm her information? Thanks.

Our weather conditions here on Kaua`i play a big role in anything you may want to do.
For those who feel compelled to take a helicopter tour, mornings are always best -- because as the day goes on and the sun warms the land and ocean, the cloud cover increases (especially over the inland and mountains).

I can vouch for that. We did the 11:00 AM last week with Blue Hawaiian and it was great.
That afternoon we went to the Waimea Canyon and walked to the top - supposed to be the greatest view ever according to the Blue book - well, we knew it was as we'd seen it with the Helicopter, but not from the mountain side.
The clouds had the view totally obliterated that afternoon - we couldn't see a thing.

iamq: Well, er, shuffle.
I dropped it when I fell running from the nudie beach that Matnikstym took me to!
It's kinda bent up, having bounced off several lava rocks to the sandy bottom before I could retreive it.
I'm afraid the largest of the gems somehow got dislodged.
But while hiking up Kalalau, my son noticed how the kuikui nuts that were imbeded in the soil on the path was worn to a shiny sheen so he dug one up & I hot glued one in it's place! Looks like a giant black onyx.
Hope that's OK.

I'm crying for real now. Tears, streaming down my cheeks.....from laughter ( and that's no lie .)
Makes me laugh more than the little rooster I smuggled back from Kauai that crows every time I clap my hands ( he learns quick ).
If you don't quit, I won't tell you about ALMOST seeing Juila Roberts and Pierce Brosnan (sp?).
It has taken me all day to download my pics onto my 'puter. No telling how long it'll take to get onto to CD or a webpage for viewing - any quick suggestions?
OK, I'll try to start on the report this afternoon.
Sigh, I finally get on island time, and then everyone has a cow.

Belle: We just got back from Kauai on Wednesday. We did see Julia Roberts in Hanalei, with kids and husband. I too noticed the black shiny things on the Kalalau Trail. I thought they were rocks though.

And now those nuts are in my tiara. How frackin appropriate is that? Are you saying that Julia and Pierce were together like..."together"? I'm not up on my celebrity facts, but that would be a strange pair.

Julia was going for lunch with the family at Hanalei Gourmet. We didn't want to bother her, so did not take a photo. She was very low-key, plain yoga-style clothes, sunglasses, hair up, no entourage. She would kind of keep her head down or averted to avoid recognition.
