Trip took place in both Missouri and Kansas. Kansas City seemed like a cool place to live. It snowed our last day (3-4 inches) so we did not get to do everything I had intended.
Friday: Kansas City
-Lewis & Clark Monument
-Gates BBQ
-Boulevard Brewing tour
-Hallmark Visitors Center
-Arrowhead Stadium
-River Market Brewing
Saturday: Lawrence & Topeka
-Drove around KU campus
-James Naismith grave visit
-23rd Street Brewery
-Kansas State Capitol Dome Tour
-Blind Tiger Brewery
-Subterra Castle
-Free State Brewing
Sunday: KC, Leaveanworth, Weston
-Nelson-Atkins Museum
-Jack Stack BBQ
-Leavenworth Federal Prison
-Buffalo Soldier Monument
-High Noon Saloon & Brewery
-O'Malleys (Weston Brewing Company)
We enjoyed our trip and hope to get back again to try more BBQ, brewpubs and finish seeing some of the sights.
Gates BBQ was ok, didn't care for the sauce that much and meat was kinda tuff. My wife and I both enjoyed Jack Stack a lot more.
Boulevard Brewing makes some really good beer, so does Weston Brewing and Blind Tiger. 23rd Street, River Market, High Noon and Free State brewing was just ok. We got to Weston just when musical entertainment was going on stage. It was a very neat place and many locals gave it a good vibe.
Lawrence was a nice little city, didn;t get to walk around much as it rained most of the day.
Topeka looks like a ghost town, very grey and dirty looking. Dome tour was fun.
Subterra was very cool. After the tour, we were invited to have tea and homemade buns with our hosts. We ended up spending about four hours chatting with them.
Everyone we met was very friendly, in each and every town.
We were asked many times where we were from. When we replied "Washington, DC", their response was always "What are you doing in Kansas?", "Why did you come to Kansas City?". It was pretty funny.
Oh, also met Manute Bol in the airport, he was flying back to Baltimore on the same plane.

First-time to NYC Trip Report as promised!

Ooops....
Forgot to post the places we stayed.
First two nights at Quality Inn (Merriam, KS):
-Nice place. Good location, clean rooms, excellent staff.
-Breakfast was ok, some stuff not that fresh.
~~Would 100% suggest~~
Last night at Econo Lodge Airport (KC):
-Great location
-Room clean and big, bathroom could have been better.
-Front desk staff decent, not overly friendly.
-Walls thin, heard all noises.
~~Would suggest for cheap close place by airport. Would not have wan;t to stay here all three days. Not a horrible place though. Much better than reviews I read online.
LOL, Manute Bol. That's pretty random. I would love to see that guy scrunched into an airplane!
Thanks for the report.
