I'll be traveling to KS for business next month. Looking for a nice place to host a dinner. Would love some suggestions! Expensive to a local fun place, were open. Thanks.

The Savoy Grill is a wonderful steak and seafood place. It is located in an old hotel in the downtown area of KC.
Another good place is Plaza III, also for steaks/seafood and it is located in the Countryclub Plaza shopping area.
Both are excellent. You will need to make reservations at either one. I'd suggest calling early in the day as the best times will fill up quickly.

Capital Grill and Ruth's Chris (both chains, of course, both on the Plaza) are favorites for business dinners if that's what you're planning. Lidia's has the prettiest, most unique interior, and good food at a fair price (Italian).
If you want places that aren't chains, consider Frondizi's (Italian, has outdoor seating overlooking Plaza fountains), Plaza III (mentioned above, old world style, steakhouse), JJ's (great food and wine list, smallish without lots of atmosphere though), Kona Grill (OK, so there's one in Arizona too; good sushi, atmosphere and location), the American Restaurant (very stiff, but good food).
Plaza III gets my vote - locally owned and always excellent! Lidia's is wonderful too if you like Italian food.
How big will your party be? Do you want a private area?

A couple of other options would be Skies, which is a revolving restaurant with panaromic views of Kansas City atop the Hyatt Regency. Food/service/atmosphere is good and very conducive to business. Pierpont's would be another good choice. Pierpont's is located in historic Union Station and offers great steaks and seafood as well as an architectually uniqure bar.
Plaza III is a great choice which has been mentioned several times. You could have dinner upstairs and then head downstairs afterwards for drinks and live jazz.
By the way, all these restaurants are on the Missouri side, not Kansas. Enjoy your trip to KC!
Another good choice would be Stephenson's Apple Farm. It's also on the Missouri side. Very nice place with smoked pork chops that are wonderful! We make it a point to eat there whenever we are in KC.
I would be hApPy to assist you at The Savoy, LizetteMarie. I will be working there until early October as a part of my USA tour. Will you have a large party? I would hate to have to abide by restaurant policy and attach a gratuity of 30% on parties of six or more. Oopps, I mean 20% -It's just that I am used to at least 30% for my professional services.
Let me know how I can assist you, LizetteMarie.
