Does Kansas City, KS have any hip things to do? Hip in terms of nightlife, museums, coffee houses? Just wondering. Thanks

Lucky you former..I DO live here. If you are in the 20 something crowd you will like Westport. I myself am married with kids (former Dallas-ite) and find life here bites. Schools suck, people not that friendly (they sure don't know what a thank you wave is). Life revolves around beer, beer and more beer. If you like a high school educated blue collar worker, you'll love KC!
Hold on there current...I also live here, and find that your response is a bit tainted. First off, if you think that the entire KC metro revolves around beer, then you need to find a new crowd to hang with. What would you say about Milwaukee?
Back to the original question...KCK (as it's known here). KCK is a suburb of Kansas City, MO...on the KS side (obviously). What you need to know is that KCK is the armpit of the entire area. The crime rate there is astounding. Highest murder rate in the metro. If you come to KC, avoid KCK at all costs. There is plenty to do in KC and on the Johnson County side of the KS line.
That's just it..I don't have a crowd to hang around with. Even children's activities have the "worlds largest beer tent!". I don't get it. Maybe it is the KCMO area that has the "let's get drunk" attitude. I do live in Johnson County, fyi
Heck--we just got a Whole Foods and Half Price Books--we are just like downtown ! Finally getting citified here in Johnson County.
I would have to agree with Dr. Head, there are plenty of things to do as in any city. I also agree to avoid KCK. I am a student that goes to K-state but my home is in Johnson County. The plaza is a place I might recomend. There are a few trendy coffee shops there and lots of outdoor shoping. Theres also the Melting pot, a fondue place, and lots of great resturants. Also a few blocks off the Plaza is the Nelson Atkins Museam of art which is a great place to visit.
