Kaanapali Ali'i Condos
Has anyone stayed at the Kaanapali Ali'i condos? Can you tell me what your "likes" and "dislikes" are about these condos? We are thinking of staying there in 2012 so before we decide I'd love some input from you folks that are familiar with it. Thanks!

We stayed in one of the oceanfront condos two years ago. It was absolutely one of the best accommodations we've ever had. I have no complaints at all about the condo or facilities. I hear that Kaanapali has since renovated, so the condo complex should be even more amazing. There's a beautiful grill area on site, so we took advantage of that, and one night when we tried to clean up after ourselves, a staffer came over to shoo us away. It turns out that's part of their "job" each night. The beach, right in front of the hotel, is great, and esp in the early morning hours, very uncrowded. I'd say it's more of a surfing beach than the section of beach closer to The Sheraton Maui ( we also stayed there), but really stunning and fairly quiet. Also, as I'm sure you probably know, the complex is an easy walk to the other hotels ( Hyatt, Westin) and Whaler's Village. I highly recommend it and would love to go back!!

My uncle owned several condos in the Kaanapali Alii. It is in a great central location, right on the white sand beach, and within walking distance to Whalers Village as well as the other hotels and restaurants in the area. Each apartment has a full-size washer and dryer (very convenient), and a large kitchen with standard size appliances making it great for families. They are spacious and very comfortable. As for dislikes, the only things I can think of is getting a unit with little ocean or mountain views (views vary by location of unit), and it is a fairly large property so there is a little bit of walking involved, but nothing different from being in a large hotel.
