June in Connecticut

My family is planning a 3 day get together the first weekend in June. We are coming from various locations in New England. We are considering meeting in the Mystic area or the area between Hartford and Springfield (MA). Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced hotel/motel in either of these areas? Do you have any recommendations for playing tourist? Thanks.

There are many more activities in the Mystic area. Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos, Mystic Aquarium, and Mystic Seaport are the highlights. Newport, RI is only a short drive away. The Comfort Inn of Mystic offers AAA rates or book online for an additional 10% discount.

Jeff,
First time here but amazed at the info around. As a lifelong CT resident let me put things into perspective as best I can.
June is a wonderful time in CT. It is really the start of summer time here in CT.
The Mystic area is wonderful as it is on the coast and an up and coming resort area. Foxwood and Mohegan Sun offer adult casino action but there is the lure of shopping in downtown Mystic a quaint and peaceful area. Lots to do for the family.
If you are looking in the Hartford/Springfield area, may I suggest you look in the Litchfield Hills area?

A great Mystic Web Site for information on the area is:

www.mycoast.com

I second the advice you were given about Mystic and would also suggest stopping by Stonington Borough which is beautiful, there is a small harbor and a great casual restauarant - Skippers Dock that overlooks the boats and the sound.
