July 4th fireworks in NYC
Hi all,
I've posted this in the lounge too.My SO and I are going to be in NY this weekend with friends and we'd like to see the July 4th fireworks. Can anyone recommend a place where we'll have a decent view of them but doesn't cost a bundle (or anything)?
Our hotel is the Omni Berkshire at Madison and 54th and it has a roof garden. Would we be able to see them from there?
Thanks muchly.

This might be helpful for you: http://gothamist.com/2016/07/01/map_...ks.php#photo-1
In my experience, watching fireworks from rooftops can be hit or miss - sometimes it's a great view and sometimes there are other big buildings nearby that can obstruct the view. The hotel staff might be able to tell you if their roof is a good place to see the fireworks. Watching by the FDR Drive is free but it can get crowded so you might have to get there early to get a good spot.

We're here now and alas I'm told our hotel roof bar won't provide a view. I think we're just going to meander about our normal business and see as much of the fireworks as we can from wherever we are.
Thanks, everyone!
