jet boat rides
There is Jerry's Jet Boats out of Gold Beach which does up to a 104 miles RT jet boat ride which takes most of the day. They also offer shorter rides. There is Hellsgate Jet Boats which goes out of Grant's Pass near Ashland which does up to a 5 hour trip. Does anyone have experience to let us know whether the 104 mile trip is worth it or would a shorter trip be just as good? Are the trips out of Gold Beach better than or the same as the ones out of Grant's Pass in terms of scenery and wildlife?
Thanks for any guidance.

I have only done the one @ Grants Pass. I think the shortest ride is what we did and it worked out the best for us. It was very good and we would do it again, but I wouldn't want to be on it any longer than what we were. We did see some wildlife and the canyon was interesting. As far as scenic, I would rate it as good, but not great or outstanding. You will get wet and the "spins" are about half of what the trip is all about anyway. I didn't do the lunch trip as I didn't want to sit around for 2 hours.

We have done the 2 hour scenic ride out of Grant's Pass several times, it's lots of fun. Two hours is a nice amount of time, they take you pretty far back to where River Wild was filmed and do some 360 turns, bring a small towel and wear a hat, you will get wet! Have fun! ***kim***

I responded on one of your other threads but IMO the trips out of Gold Beach are preferable to the ones out of Grants Pass in terms of scenery and wildlife. The full day trip with Jerry's is outstanding. If you can make time for it, you should.

We have done the Jet Boat trip-64 miles-out of Gold Beach. Super super fun. The scenery is wonderful. It is incredible. We also did the slower, shorter mailboat trip once. We were supposed to go on the Jet boat trip-but it was rainy and cold. They offered us the covered, heated mailboat trip as an option. Glad we took the trip. It gives you a better opportunity to observe the wildlife. The jetboats are faster, more thrilling. I would do either trip again-in a heartbeat.
