Jay Leno at Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach
I'll be in Redondo Beach for five nights (traveling alone this trip) and have booked one ticket for Jay Leno's performance in Hermosa Beach. Has anyone been there and can you give me any tips or information, ie how early to get there for seating, etc. I will be coming from the matinee of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Civic Light Opera and am a little concerned about finding parking and getting a decent seat once inside. Also, how weird will it be for me to be there alone?

Where is the venue for "Joseph"? Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center? If so, you'll only be 15 minutes away (although getting out of the RBPAC parking lot can be slow.)
There's a public parking lot directly across the street from the CMC and another one about two blocks north at Hermosa Avenue and 13th Street. Some street parking (metered) may open up by late afternoon, but read the signs very, very carefully.
I haven't been to the CMC in a while, so I can't help with the seating question.

Here is the parking map for the CMC. Parking can be hard to get, but if you are there about an hour and a half before the show, there may be parking on the roof of the theater for $5. Otherwise the lots Jean mentioned would be my next choices.

We have season tickets to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Theater, and are looking forward to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Comedy and Magic is a small venue. You need to arrive early enough to find parking and walk a couple of blocks, but nothing extreme. You are just good arriving 15 or 20 minutes before the show. I've actually arrived one minute before a show without a problem. There are no bad seats. Also consider, that you don't want to sit in the first row. Don't know who else is on with Jay, but if a comic picks on someone, it's always in the front row. I know I don't want that to be me.
Once you have taken your seat, nobody will know you are solo. Nothing wierd about that. I have traveled by myself for a lifetime and have no qualms about being a singlesome anywhere.

Stumpworks, good to know, thanks! I usually travel with my husband, so it feels a little funny to me to go to a place like that by myself. MBnancy, I think you will love it. It's going to be a fun/flashy show. I have it on good authority Wait til you see Eric Kunze as Joseph. Google him to find his fansite, and you'll see what I mean.

Maggi, I finally got around to looking up Eric. He looks great, are you related? You are a big fan I see! Will you be seeing the show most nights you are in Redondo? We are looking forward to seeing this show. Walked out of the last one at intermission, as did many. It was called BARK!
Jean, The cruise was great, and Italy was fantastic. Weather perfect. Stayed the first two nights where you suggested. When are you headed back?

Hi Nancy, I'm not related. We met after a performance in Detroit of Whistle Down the Wind two years ago and I started a website for him. Since then we have been in close contact and I travel to see him perform as often as I am able. I will see the show Wed-Sun this coming week. When are you going? If you're there any of those nights you'll see me in the front row.
I think you are going to love this one. Sorry you didn't like BARK! Let me know how you liked it!

Maggi,
Our season tickets are for the following week, but I have put the word out for other friends of ours who will be attending over the two weeks to look out for Eric on stage. Not that one could miss him!
I'll check on here how you thought the production was in general. I know with cut backs, the actors are given less rehearsal time. Do they have to put up the actors as well? I know some are local, so they can drive home.

Usually these regional theaters will house the actors and provide food and transportation. I don't know if the CLO is able to do that, I know they have been struggling financially like so many other groups. They have brought in a well respected director and their cast is top-notch. I'll look forward to your opinion.

Maggi, how was your evening at the Comedy and Magic Club to see Jay Leno in Hermosa? Did you find parking easy enough?
We enjoyed "Joseph" very much and thought Eric was great. A well done show. Hope you liked the production.

Hi there! I saw the Leno show after the Sunday matinee performance of Joseph. I had plenty of time to get there and found metered parking right across the street, although I was a little nervous since there was a three hour limit. (The roof parking for the theater was full.) I sat by myself, but was very comfortable. In fact an older lady came up to me and told me they had been admiring the fact that I was there alone and seemed to be OK with that. Leno was hilarious. I literally had tears rolling down my face. I was impressed. He did over an hour of nonstop jokes. I have a lot more respect for him now than I did before.
Two huge talents (Eric and Leno) in one day, wow! I saw "Joseph" five times and could have seen more. Lots of fun. Still have the "go go go" song running through my head, lol.
