Has anyone ever gone to the James River Plantation Progressive Ghost Tour and Dinner? We will be visiting Williamsburg in late October - I found this on Virginia.org and thought it sounded fun and very "fallish". It's a little expensive, at $55.00/person - especially since we'll have our teenage daughter with us. Is it worth it, or would we be better off having a nice dinner at the Fat Canary and taking one of the CW walking Ghost Tours?
We'll be in Williamsburg October 21st through the 28th. Is this good timing for peak color, or will we be too early?

I haven't done that ghost tour (or any ghost tour in Wmsbg)but I can say that none of those plantations are any of the large well-known ones.
There should be color the week you are here. It varies and usually peaks more towards the end of Oct.
Thank you, Birdie. You are always so helpful. My instincts are telling me to skip the James River Ghost Tour, and try one offered in CW. I do want to take a tour of either the Shirley or the Berkeley Plantation, and will try to do both. But, if we only have time for one, which one would you suggest?
We just did the Shirley Plantation in June and all enjoyed it very much. Also, had a great meal at Fat Canary and enjoyed the CW Ghost tour.
I attended this tour last year, although the tour no longer includes dinner, and it costs just $20 per person. The two-hour tour was given by a family member. The four homes are all on the grounds of Piney Grove. The homes are modest compared to nearby Shirley and Berkeley plantations, but the tour is the best I have ever had and the stories with these homes are most memorable. Our tour had just six people, so it was like a private tour - and the homemade cookies and cider were wonderful. Don't miss it!
