Itinerary ideas..Planes Trains Automobiles Illinois to Northwest

Jump to last reply

We are planning to travel from Springfield, Illinois to visit points of interest in the Pacific Northwest in mid August. Expect trip duration to be about 2 to 3 weeks. Had considered Amtrak to Glacier (cost prohibitive!) so now thinking we will rent a car from home (to save miles on our vehicle) Definitely want to visit Glacier National Park in Montana, Mt. Rushmore, and then travel through Oregon and Washington and possibly Northern California for the Redwoods.
Wine country in Oregon and Washington and microbrews in Bend Oregon would be high on our list on this trip before flying on a Southwest Airline route to St. Louis, Mo where we will Amtrak back to Springfield, IL.

Suggestions for lodging, restaurants, travel routes, airport, etc... please.

We are new to this website.... thank you so much!!!
