Itinerary help SD to Cody to Glacier NP

Jump to last reply

I need your expertise, please.
Staying 4 nights in Rapid City area then planning to go through Cody,Wy to see Buffalo Bill museum and drive the Chief Joseph & Beartooth highways to Red Lodge, MT and then go on to Glacier NP.
My question is how much time do I need in Cody? It will take the better part of the day just to get there from SD so there probably won't be any time to see museum that day, right???
Should I stay 2 nights in Cody? Then drive the scenic hiways and keep going towards Glacier and stop somewhere between Red Lodge and Glacier? Red Lodge to Kalispell is almost 500 miles and that's about our limit for driving each day. We're not on a restriced time schedule so do not have to rush. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
