Ithaca - Letchworth State Park Question

Jump to last reply

I'm planning a long weekend away in late July and I have reservations at the Glen Iris Inn for Sunday and Monday nights. I'd like to find a location for the Friday and Saturday before that and was thinking of either Hammondsport or Ithaca.

I mainly want a place to get away and relax for a few days and do some short day hikes. I'm not looking for fancy, but would love someplace low key and peaceful. I'm not always comfortable in a bed and breakfast, so I'd prefer a hotel or at least an inn where it doesn't feel too much like I'm staying at someone's home. I'd enjoy being on a lake, but that isn't a necessity.

So my questions are:

1. Any suggestions on which town to select for the first two days of the long weekend? I think I'd prefer Hammondsport, but there seem to be mainly B&B's and not a hotel.

2. Any particular lodging suggestions?

This trip is just for me, so I can be really flexible and am not set on any particular locations in case anyone has any different ideas. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
