Itenarary - 1st Week Sep - Phoenix to Page to Zion to Bryce
Hello. I need some ideas for trip for 4 couples (in 30s) moderately fit. Have Fri thru Mon (3.5 days roughly). I am thinking to go to Page and stay overnight on Fri, then Zion on Sat, Bryce on Sun, Not sure about Mon driving back to Phoenix. I would appreciate some ideas, dont want to drive a lot but if scenic, we dont mind. I have looked a couple of places in each destination along the way, but let me know if you got any specific ideas, appreciate!! Thank you.

"don't want to drive a lot" and this itinerary don't jive.
If you are starting in Phoenix, that's 1000 total driving miles.
For a long weekend I think you are much better off picking a single destination and enjoying what is there. In my experience Zion is a place you go for a minimum of 2-3 days and enjoy the scenery IN the park, not some place you stop by for part of a day then off to the next place.
Since you are young and moderately fit then many of the hikes at Zion would be appropriate - Scout's Landing (or all the way to Angel's Landing), Observation Point, and my favorite, the Narrows.

If you want to visit Zion and Bryce, fly into Vegas.
Zion is better as a 2 or 3 night stay. One night is just quickly skimming through it.
If you have Phoenix flights booked already and cannot change them, I would totally switch gears and spend two nights in Sedona and one at the Grand Canyon.

Thanks Myer, J62 and WhereAreWe for your replies...i appreciate and thanks so much. I think it makes sense to fly into LAS and then drive for our 4 day tour. Cost is almost double for air fare. FOr accomodation, i was planning to stay one night at Bryce and one at Zion and then was thinking to go to Page (have heard from my friends that there are a couple of places, dont know the names, will see if that falls in the way back to LAS). Thanks again! I am flying from NJ, so had not much ideas...

You said Friday - Monday on the 1st weekend in September. Looking at the calendar that is LABOR DAY weekend. OY! Talk about crowds and if you don't have lodging now, it probably won't be in the parks. Lake Powell near Page will be PACKED with the weekend boaters.
If you can go any other weekend, I'd suggest that first and foremost! If that's the only weekend you can go, then limit yourself to Zion and Bryce. It's going to take longer to get places and do things over this holiday weekend.
Even if it was any other time of September, adding Page just to do Lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe bend is hardly worth the extra 175 miles of driving on such a short trip. If you were going to spend a couple days at Page and do either the boat tour to Rainbow Bridge National Monument or the float trip on the Colorado River, then I would say it would be worth it but you would need more time.

Yeah, i dont have any reservation yet. Do Zion and Bryce require any reservations for entrance and all other activities? (not for motel stay for nights). And how much would it be for general entrances to both parks? Tickets to LAS are costly otherwise thats the best option i think. So i mean if i fly into PHX, i would then drive to Zion ...on the way we spend like a day in Page. Thanks utahtea

no reservation required to enter the parks. Fee is $25 per car for 1 week for each park.
At Zion, you can stay in the town of sprindale, UT. Many hotels, and a free town shuttle to the park entrance, where you then pick up the free in-park shuttle.

Reservations are for lodging only.
The fees to enter Zion & Bryce National Parks have gone up to $30.00 per vehicle good for 7 days. You have to pay entrance fees at both parks. http://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisi...servations.htm

Page won't cost anything but if you want to enter the Glen Canyon National Recreational area to get close up to Lake Powell the entrance fee has gone up to $20 per vehicle good for 7 days. http://www.nps.gov/glca/planyourvisit/fees.htm
If you were doing all three, then the $80 annual park pass would be worth looking into because it is good for one year from purchase. http://www.nps.gov/findapark/passes.htm
This would allow you to enter Montezuma's National Monument for free on your way back to Phoenix.
