Is staying at the Fairmont DC worth the inconvenience?
Taking into consideration the location of the metro stop and its proximity to the usual tourist sights, is the Fairmont worth the inconveniece at $109/$149 per night?

I was there in October 2001 and found it to be a lovely location and beautiful hotel. We were there for a wedding so were there for only 5 days. We hopped the metro and saw all the sights we intended to with no problem at all. I'd say go for it, let us know! Have a great time!

The Fairmont is pretty nice... I have never thought of it to be inconvenient, it's not next to the Capitol but it's close to Georgetown. I have no clue if 109/149 is a good rate because you do not mention DATES!!! Rates this month are different than this summer, than this fall, than winter 2004....
I stay as far as Arlington. Everything is just a few minutes away by Metro.

We stayed across the street at the Park Hyatt and location was not a problem. It was convenient to Georgetown, an easy walk to the Foggy Bottom metro station or a short cab ride to most of the usual sites. A quiet and pleasant area to stay in.

I stay there on business occasionally at a much higher rate and have always been pleased with the hotel. I stayed there this week in fact. Very nice rooms, friendly staff and a great health club. The proximity to Georgetown is great for good restaurants and it is not too inconvenient to the usual tourist sites if you use the metro.
