This durn Fodor's posting prob!
Any way...Tried to check in to the Ramada Fisherman's Wharf Plaza Hotel in SF this past Sat afternoon...We were 3rd in line and when it was our turn to check in, it was about 4:00 pm...
The desk clerk locked up the computer and went jogging off after saying "I'll be right back"...approx 20 mins later, the line was about 20 angry people long, 2 hotel mgrs came walking up and asked what the prob was... It appears the clerk was off at 4:00 and just
left !!!!
Is this a usual practice at Ramadas !
They are off of my list !!!!

I have had similar experiences at Ramada. The entire chain should be sold and new owners should start over. The hotels tend to be dirty and mismanaged.
Hello?!!
See any polls extolling the virtues and values of Ramada Inns in the past umpteen years?
On balance, they're poorly run, worn, poorly serviced, creepy places IMO.
Not that there aren't a few exceptions to the rule around. But if you're looking for value, look for NEW and PROVEN chains. Try to find a Courtyard, newer Fairfield, or one of the extended stay suite places. Crummy Ramadas will only stay in business as long as people keep paying them to give poor service.
We stayed at the Ramada Fisherman's Wharf several years ago and didn't have any problems but things change in a few years.
