My husband and I would like suggestions for lovely bed and breakfasts and destination sites for a road trip from phoenix to Pasadena. Thanks for suggestions of places you've found and liked!

It is only about 5 1/2 hours from Phoenix to Pasadena, and the direct route really is a boring drive. Not much notable, that I am aware of, to see along the way. It is just desert.
If you've never been to Death Valley you could stay in Death Vally Junction. http://www.amargosa-opera-house.com/index.htm
The other things to see are Las Vegas, Hoover Dam and the world's tallest thermometer in Baker.
Three nights a week there is the Sunset Limited from Mariposa to LAX where you can rent a car to go to Pasadena.
