We will be spending two nights in Wilmington in mid-October. Can't seem to find any city info on the web. Any restaurant suggestions? Good antiqueing? Thinking of staying at the Hotel Dupont, any comments?

though i live here, i don't like the city. but there are some great places to see and go. mrs. robinos is the place to go for italian. the hotel dupont is known for its food (not my taste, but most love it). don't miss the area attractions--longwood gardens, and all of the dupont houses. have fun. be safe!
Also remember you aren't that far from Phila. (45+ min), which has some great sights and restaurants, too.
I hate to admit this, but whenever I'm in Wilmington I stop at a very humble Howard Johnson's, because it's the last one I've found anywhere, including Mass., that still serves the fried clams and peppermint stick ice cream that I grew up on near Boston. I'm pretty sure that isn't what you want, Ruth, but couldn't resist mentioning it. You will love Longwood and check out the Hagley Museums (pretty locale) and, of course, Winterthur (which is more than one tour). Mid-October is the perfect time to go!
