I think a week is stretching it unless you make some side trips to plantations or New Orleans. The Gulfport/Biloxi area has about a dozen casinos, so you can definitely get your gambling fix! The beaches are man-made and are alongside the major highway, so they are very noisy. Better beaches are about an hour east, in Alabama. While in Biloxi, be sure to visit Beau Rivage casino's production of Alegria by Cirque du Soleil. It's wonderful!

I agree with John. If it's beaches you're interested in, there are much better ones in Alabama and Florida, and if it's tourism and nighttime activities (and even gambling) that interest you, I'd go to New Orleans. A week would be a very long time in Biloxi.

Gaming choices: Beau Rivage, Grand Casino Gulfport, Grand Casino Biloxi, Isle of Capri Biloxi, and maybe Boomtown. Beaches: Pensacola Beach, FL or Perdido/Orange Beach, AL.--each is 60-90 minutes from Biloxi. Also, a big outlet mall is located in Foley, AL, near the beaches.
Consider a day or two in New Orleans, too. Harrah's Casino New Orleans is very nice and is next to the French Quarter. Free parking, too.

The city of Ocean Springs is a few miles from Biloxi and is a charming seaside village with a strong artistic flavor. Don't miss the Walter Anderson Museum there - a beautifully designed space dedicated to the town's most interesting former citizen, an eccentric water colorist and potter with a fresh but true vision of the animal life of the area (and much more). Make sure to visit the museum when the town hall (attached to the museum) is open. Mr. Anderson painted the walls of the hall for $1. It is an undescribable vision of the fauna, flora, and history of the Gulf Coast that will stun you.

Gambling, yes, Biloxi is the place for you. If you go, stay in the Beau Rivage, by far the best Hotel/Casino.
Beaches, the beaches are bad all along the MS Coast. This is due mainly to the string of barrier Islands that block most of the surf from reaching the mainland. This brings me to an idea I had. For a good beach, you could take the Ship Island ferry out to Ship Island, you should find good beaches there. I've never actually been , but I hear its nice. Here's a link I found..may be a comprimise for you.

Ship Island has a beautiful beach (you aren't allowed to bring glass to the island) and the water is crystal clear. The boat will drop you off and pick you up later. The island has a snack bar, bathrooms with showers, I think that they have lockers in the bathroom to store valuables or clean clothes. Hope this helps
