Considering a red eye flight.
Anyone familiar with AirTrans? Not living
back East, not sure if it's sort of like Southwest, or, less reliable/safe or...?
Any reviews of this airline?
Also arriving SO early, wondering if rental car agencies open at the Indy airport by 6:30am? One more convenient than others,
or pretty much all right there & w/cars on-site? Thanks in advance!

All Airport Rental car agencies will have someone on duty at 6:30am (it's really not that early). They are all within a few blocks of each other and offer shuttle service to the terminal (less than a 5 minute drive).
Never flew AirTrans so I can help you with that question.
Checking a few rental companies, they start operation at 4am to 6am. So, arriving at 6:30 won't be a problem.
Yes, AirTran is a low cost airline, though they have a business class service. No recent safety problem, but AirTran is the reincarnation of Valujet - you may have heard of their crash in the Everglades. But that was over 11 years ago.
