We are currently staying at St. Pete Beach and need some help with our plans for Sunday. I had planned on going to all the museums in the St. Pete area (Dali, Chihuly, etc) before our flight leaves. We will probably do that tomorrow instead though because of the half marathon going on in that immediate area on Sunday. So - we have to be out of our condo by 10:00 am on Sunday and our flight home isn't until 8:00 pm (out of Tampa) and its supposed to be "cold" - or cold for Florida. I thought about going to Busch Gardens but it is expensive and I'm not sure any of the animals would be out to see. Any thoughts on what else we should do? Thanks in advance.
In Tampa for the weekend - need help for Sunday 02/12

What is the age range of the "we" in your group? Kids and adults? Just adults? If it's just adults, I'd consider driving to Sarasota and doing Ringling--art museum, circus museum, and the wonderfully restored Ringling mansion, Ca d'Zan. Or, if you enjoy gardens, do Selby Gardens at the edge of Sarasota Bay. The orchid greenhouse is beautiful, as are the entire grounds. Sarasota is our next door neighbor, most interesting, and not a bad drive at all.
If kids are involved too, consider the Tampa Aquarium, or Lowry Park Zoo. Aquarium is terrific and Lowry Park Zoo has been voted one of the best family zoos in the US.
Thanks OO - "we" are two adults - early 40s. Thanks for the suggestions!
Selby is beautiful, but $17 admission. Ouch!
Beats the heck out of the $70-80 at Busch!
Another vote for Selby.
Well, true, but I still think it is outrageous.
I'll put in a vote for the Ringling museums - Ca d'Zan is beautiful, and it is going to be cold and breezy tomorrow, so being indoors sounds good.
I agree. Tomorrow is best spent indoors--Ca d'Zan and the art museum would be terrific. I was fascinated with the restoration process of the mansion--incredible what this climate on the edge of the bay can do to a place, and how ibeautifully it can be reclaimed!
Big thanks to OO for suggesting Ringling! We thoroughly enjoyed it and both agreed it was better than any of the other plans we had for the day. Highly recommend to anyone - world class art museum, beautiful gardens, amazing house right on the bay, and a full scale replica of a circus to boot.
Yay, illnative--Glad you enjoyed your day!! Thanks for letting us know how it went. It's so nice to get feedback!
