In Pacific Grove- Green Gables or Seven Gables

Green Gables has the carriage house for 260.00
King bed, jacuzzi tub, partial ocean view, TV/Vcr
Seven Gables has a less expensive rooms with oceanview but queen beds with shower/bath no t.v.. Ladies, what do you think? Is one of the hotels in a more convienient location. Seven Gables room on the web page are magnificent. Green gables does not show the room they have available. Any input

We stayed at Green Gables, it's wonderful, but we stayed in the Inn, not the carriage house. Seven Gables is very near & looked very nice also, but the extra stuff you'll be getting at Green Gables would be worth the price, I think. Breakfast at Green Gables was yummy!!, it's a Three Sisters property & they do B&B the right way, cozy, but not intrusive on your privacy.

Whoops!, make that Four Sisters, not Three. Check out the website: foursisters.com. Click on Green Gables Inn & they have a photo album, I see a carriage house room...pretty!

I live in Pacific Grove so have not stayed in either place, just know they are both very nice. Across the street from Monterey Bay and easy walking distance to downtown PG or the Aquarium.

It sounds like you are getting the building behind the old building at the Green Gable, but it has a lot of extras. The Seven Gables room is probably in the old building and looks directly on the Bay.

Tough choice, but we don't watch much TV in PG as there is too much else to do. You will not be wrong with either place. If you like the room at the Green Gable, go for it. As a side note: I know the guy that grew up in this house as his boyhood home.

I have been to Pacific Grove several times (including on my honeymoon), and we always stay at the Green Gables (that is -- when we can get a room). It is so comfortable and charming. I have never stayed in the Carriage House, but I know the rooms there are larger and have more amenities (e.g. jacuzzi tub) than those in the main house. Breakfast is AMAZING -- as are the cookies and treats that always have out. Definitely borrow the bicycles and ride into Monterey or out to the lighthouse. We have never stayed at the Seven Gables simply because it is not our style -- much more formal, Louis XIIII-type furnishings. I'm sure it is very nice -- just not for us. However, the Green Gables never disappoints.

I stayed at the Seven Gables last year and thought it was great - some people mention the furniture being a little overly formal - but I didn't really notice when I was there. Seven Gables is a little closer to Pacific Grove, Green Gables is a little closer to Monterey - if your walking it will make a small diference (5 - 10 minutes). If your driving, their practically identical...

Also, IMHO, the view from Seven Gables more than makes up for the lack of TV... I could just watch the surfers at Lover's Point for hours...
