If you use Priority Club points for reward nights note March 18, 2012 date

If you're planning to use Priority Club points for reward night stays at any of the Intercontinental Hotel Group hotels: Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, and others, March 18 of this year is the last date for which you can get rooms under the old redemption schedule. The Priority Club has largely devalued the program requiring a significant increase in points required for reward nights redemeptions at most properties. NOTE: You must CALL the Priority Club Program to get the old schedule. You CANNOT get the old schedule with online redemptions. IF you have already made reservations online, you SHOULD (but I won't guarantee it) get a "goodwill" refund for the extra points you had to spend for the online reservations. I've made several reservations over the last 8 months or so by calling and asking for the OLD redemption schedule. A recent reservation for overseas was for 75000 points (5 nights at 15,000 points) under the old schedule, but, 125,000 pionts (5 nights at 25,000 points) if using the new schedule.

And, remember, if you reserve with points, with a timely cancellation (usually 24 hours), you can get your points back. So, if you aren't sure you'll take that trip you're planning but want to lock in the lower rates, make your reservations now and you can always cancel later. But, if you wait past March 18, 2012, you're going to face a major increase in the number of points at most properties to be able to stay with reward nights.
