Ideas for destination for all adult family?

Looking for resort or destination for my adult siblings/spouses and parents. Dad is 85 and can only walk short distances with the assistance of a walker. So, we need a spot where the hotel itself is comfortable and attractive for the days he wants to spend inside. We're not big sports people, so golf, tennis not that important (though pool is nice). We do enjoy horseback riding, but it's not mandatory. We like art, great food, pretty sites. Also, we'd prefer someplace warm (no snow). Time of year is not really a factor, just looking for a fun spot that everyone will enjoy. Budget $200-300 a night per couple for hotel.

Any suggestions for either a specific resort or general destination? This is meant to be general, would love all ideas. We toured France a few weeks ago, would like US trip next year.

Thanks, annieladd

It's not the US, but what about Ottawa in the summer? You can get a hotel downtown. The weather is warm but not hot. There are a lot of museums (including art museums). If you stay at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, you'd be right on the Ottawa River and a fairly short walk to the Rideau Canal - both nice places for your Dad to sit and people watch. The hotel is very nice also.

Check out The Greenbrier at http://www.greenbrier.com/site/.
Your Dad would love it. You can stay in the main hotel or one of the multi-bedroom cottages which have porches. Has a wonderful southern charm atmosphere. You can book rooms either with meals included or without.

In winter, there is snow. Also, it may stretch your budget but you will love it.

Will be glad to provide more info if you are interested. Have stayed there at least once a year for last 16 years.
