HYATT ROOMS MAUI/KAUAI

We are booked for 4nights each island at the Hyatts. In Kauai we have a garden view room and in Maui we have a lagoon view room. Would appreciate any feedback/suggestions on these room types Should we try to change them? upper or lower floor? etc. Don't particularly like noise & when booking hotels I usually avoid the pool & playground areas.
Thanks, JJ

In Kauai, ask for a room in the Poipu Wing - you are away from the pools, but closer spa -Make sure you try a massage or treatment - that spa is great!
Also, sign-up for their Gold Passport frequent Guest program

Hi, I am also thinking about 5 nights at each Hyatt resort on Maui (partial ocean view or POV) & Kauai (mountain view). Any recommendations on the room locations? The travel agent told me the mountain view is nice and cheaper ($375). Is the mountain view facing the parking lot, hence, nosier? Is the POV worth the money ($425)? Thanks for your help!

We had a mountain view room at the Hyatt/Kauai..and yes it did face the parking lot, however far enough away not to be noisey. And $50 a day more for a POV worth it?..depends I guess...
Have had rooms billed as POV and really had to streach to see it.The Hyatt does sit back a ways from the ocean, and the way its layed out, that might be the case depending on the room.
Unless your going to spend alot of time in your room,,IMO go for the MV and save the rest for the lava flows in the bar..

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt in Kauai in September 2000. We had originally booked a mountain view room and upgraded before leaving to a partial ocean view room. We literally had to lean off of our balcony to see the ocean. Not worth the price to upgrade. I would either go lagoon view (which means you will be near the pool) or full ocean view. I agree with the suggestion regarding the Poipu wing. It would be quieter. We were in the other wing, near the water slide and you could hear everyone screaming as they went down it. By the way, one of the best meals we had during our stay was at the Tidepools restaurant at the hotel. Have fun!

I agree with previous posters that your money is better spent on a mountain view room than an ocean view. In Maui, I'd recommend the Atrium Tower (middle of the 3 Towers) and have found the "mountain view" to often offer occasional breath-taking rainbows...ask for a high floor. In Kauai, the views from all of the rooms are less dramatic, and the hotel is set back from the ocean, so why pay more for the substandard view. That said, both hotels are otherwise great, and you are sure to have a wonderful time!

Hi! We stayed at both Hyatts in October and booked garden view rooms (because we heard it's pretty easy to get upgraded if they aren't booked). We were upgraded at both Hyatts and we're glad we didn't pay the extra money. All the fun activities are quite expensive and your dollars are much better spent on those (ex. helicopter $150/ea, but a must do in Kauai. Plus, you'll have plenty of opportunities to see beautiful sites outside of your hotel room! Both Hyatts are beautiful properties...the Kauai Hyatt is absolutely gorgeous. If you want any other info, feel free to e-mail me... we saw & did it all!

JJ,
Having stayed in a very dark mountain view room at the Hyatt on Kauai (1st floor, backing up to the parking lot and having to rely on the air conditioner i/o the tropical breezes because of warnings not to leave the sliding doors open) I would recommend a garden view in the Poipu Wing. Some of them even come with peek-a-boo views. I would like to tell you that with the magnificient grounds, the room shouldn't matter, but this one was really dark all day. (And the hotel was full, so no opportunity to move.) Wonderful hotel!

The Hyatt on Maui is very nice. We had a garden view, nothing that great. Even the lagoon view will not be noisy. We found it to be a quiet place to stay. Great pools, parking you can park your own car without valet, but a bit away from the main action.
