Has anyone been there this year? We are making our first trip to the Gulf side of Florida and spending 3 days in July there...... what should we expect at the resort... places to eat in the area, how long a drive to Naples ? etc. etc.

The hotel itself is very nice. Great pool areas and common spaces. There is an "Old Florida Style" seafood restaurant on site, very good but can be empty on certain nights, making it a little weird....the other restuarant is just okay in my opinion. It seems like it doesn't really fit or have a specific "vibe". I can't say that the food is bad or anything, just that it's a better place for breakfast.....not dinner.
Other off-site restaurants would be Chops City Grill, located just down the street. About 10-15 minutes farther south you'll find a Roy's (pacific rim), a SouthBay Bistro (fish, steaks etc and a couple of other chain restaurants in the Promenade of Bonita Springs. North Naples is another 10-15 minutes south of that and you'll hit the Bayhouse, PF Changs and more in North Naples. BTW, On the way south to N.Naples, you'll pass a few places that are fun for atmosphere but maybe not the best food such as Duval Street Seafood Company and Pinchers Crab Shack. Old Naples is another 15-20 minutes south of this where you'll find a bunch of fun and fine restuarants in the 5th Ave South area as well as 3rd Street South.
