Husband & Wife Trip: Long Weekend at Magic Kingdom & Epcot

My husband and I both in our early 30's, just returned about two weeks ago from a mini vaca to Walt Disney World in Orlando. We took an early Thursday morning flight from Newark to Orlando that got us there around 10:15am and an evening flight back on Sunday. We had such a wonderful time being "kids" for the weekend. We both just wanted to get away for a quick trip and have been talking about going to Disney as adults and without kids (we dont have kids yet) for probably over a year. I decided to book it as a surprise as we both have busy schedules and don't get to have much time just the two of us. Our trip was so much fun and so memorable even in the HOT weather and crowds of July.

I decided to book us at the Grand Floridian. We both have never stayed there and thought it would be a perfect place for us as adults and because with such a short stay, being on the monorail was a plus. We arrived in Orlando, got our luggage, and waited for our Magical Express bus to take us to our resort. We were both tired from waking up at 4am, but the excitement of being there helped keep us awake! We arrived outside the resort and someone came right up to us with our last name and walked us right to our building we would be staying in. Walking into the main building was beautiful and charming. We stayed in the Sugar Loaf building...I believe? We had the concierge level where every day was a continental breakfast and treats/snacks throughout the day. Our room was not ready so the resort stored our luggage and we decided to go grab a quick bite to eat as they told us the housekeeping were in our room and should be done soon. We ate in the cafe which was very good and quick service. By 2pm we were still waiting for our room, so we asked if we could use a room just for now to change so we could head into the park. The resort was nice enough to allow this so we quickly got ready and hopped on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

Getting off the monorail (one stop away from Floridian) the kid in me came out! It was so amazing walking down Main Street looking at the castle straight ahead. It just puts you in such a happy mood. My husband and I spent a few hours here and put fast passes to work on Space Mountain and Thunder railroad. We saw a few parades and shows during the few hours we had. We got back to the resort around 6pm to change for dinner at Epcot in Canada at 8:50. Unfortunately our room was ready, however our luggage was not there like they said it would be. We called and they said they could not find the luggage. Finally they checked the room we used earlier and found the luggage. Long story short, because of this delay we did not get to Epcot and the restaurant until 9:30pm and the kitchen was closed. We were upset and hungry and went back to the resort and spoke with a manager regarding this. He was so accommodating and paid for our meal at the resort.

The next day we headed to Magic Kingdom to have more fun. Fast passes helped us on Space mountain and splash mountain. One of our favorite "rides" was Mickey's philharmagic. We ended up watching it about 3 times the entire trip. It is a GREAT 3D show! And for all you tech savvy people, we used my husbands iphone to download an app for disney rides so we could see how long the waits were for each. Have to say it definitely helped! We walked A LOT from one end to the other many many times throughout the day just taking it all in. We also ate at The Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends (I just had to) haha! Food was decent and pics with the characters did happen! Not sure my husband really enjoyed that part, but he was a great sport! We continued on our day with more rides and disney shows & parades. We made it back to the Floridian for dinner at 7:30 at Narcoossee's. The food was excellent and it was nice being on the lagoon to see the little night parade on the water. After dinner we went back to Magic Kingdom for the fireworks and the electrical parade. The crowd is crazy looking at the front of the castle so we decided to get the view from the back. Best place I have ever watched the fireworks. We stood in the middle as the fireworks went over us. It was pretty magical I have to say! I highly recommend trying this area out (right by the carousel) to watch the fireworks at night. We also watched the electrical parade in frontier land where there were only a few others. Characters came right over to say hello and plenty of space to view it all!

The following day was spent at Epcot. We did a fast pass for Soarin as well as Test Track. We of course did Spaceship Earth along with the Land ride (my husband loves to garden and grow veggies) We spent most of our time walking around the world! I think we both appreciated it a lot more being older. We stopped for lunch in Japan cause we both LOVE sushi. It was very fresh and great service. We continued on our journey and headed back a little early to the resort to change for dinner. We ended up going back to Epcot to France to eat at Monsieur Paul. Wow! What a great meal! We both had the tenderloin which was delicious and my husband had the escargot. He said it was the best he has ever had. The wine was tasty and overall service great and friendly! We decided to head to Magic kingdom again for night time (perks of monorail & hours till 11pm) We didn't watch the fireworks this time and instead took advantage of the short lines at Thunder mountain and Splash mountain. We loved the rides at night time!!! Highly recommend this!

The next day was Sunday, meaning check out day. Bummer. But, rather than just sit around...we got dressed, stored our luggage and off we went for a few hours to Magic Kingdom! We just had to do space mountain one last time! (3 times the entire trip) Went on the jungle cruise, and walked around Dumbo's circus area which we hadn't explored yet. Bought a few souvenirs to bring home and headed back to get our luggage and head to the airport.

Overall we had the best time walking fast, seeing a lot, making the most out of 3 full days, and being together acting like kids again. It was such a great time and we can not wait to go back with kids one day!!
