How to get from Manhatten to Staten Island on Christmas Eve

Hi there! What is the best way to get from Manhattan (we are staying at the St. Regis on 55th and 5th ave) to Staten Island on Christmas Eve? We have two toddlers (ages 3 and 4) with us so would prefer a direct route if at all possible. Just worried about the traffic in NYC on Christmas Eve! I am assuming the earlier I get out, the better...

Where in Staten Island are you going? Just Manhattan to Staten Island the ferry is easiest - but that would mean getting a taxi on either end of the trip.

If you don;t do that you would have to take one taxi that goes through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and then across the Verazzano Narrows bridge to wherever on SI you re going.

If it were me I would contact the people you are going to visit - who probably know the simplest, least expensive way. But do expect it to be a long and expensive trip.

It is Great Kills area, not Gre Kills. If you do not have a car, you will need to arrange for car service or a taxi, unless your family members can pick you up at the ferry terminal. If you are not staying over with your family you will also need to arrange for a return ride.

Since Christmas eve is a Saturday, traffic may not be that bad.

UBER is a great idea. Or take ferry if someone can pick you up at the terminal on SI. (Or take ferry and then UBER to your ultimate destination) Definitely the earlier you go the better the traffic situation. The V. bridge often has pretty bad traffic by noon or even earlier.
