How much time do you think we need to drive this scenic route?

How long do you estimate it takes to drive and make all the stops along the way during this route? I figure it could take more than one day, am I right? Maybe split it up in two days to be able to take your time driving and stopping for sights? See link below.

You definitely need at least two days. A couple of years ago we covered this same area in two days and I wished we had more time to spend here. Lots of great waterfalls to hike to.

Well, the drive itself is definitely doable in one day (only about 2.5 hours of driving), but if you want to comfortably make all the stops (Basin, Flume Gorge, Cannon Tramway, Mt. Washington Hotel, etc. etc.) then I would probably recommend splitting it up, particularly if you're planning on doing any hiking (like to Arethusa Falls or Mt. Willard, which aren't listed on your itinerary but are worth looking into).

And it's not like you could ever run out of things to do in 2 days! You might even be brave enough to add the Mt. Washington Auto Road if the weather's clear.

Another place not marked is Cathedral Ledge-Echo Lake State Park in North Conway, which I enjoy, especially during foliage season.

Thanks for the advice. Does anyone have any suggestions for lodging in or near Conway, in the price range of $150 or less?

It may take you half a day just to get thru North Conway during foliage season. I think you were lucky not to find lodging near Conway. Take some advice from TerrMys. We did the Flume a year ago Labor Day weekend and it was crowded then.
That weekend we went from Campton across the Kanc, looked in a few N Conway shops, then headed south onRt 16 to Tamworth and Center Sandwich route and were able to be in Moultonborough in time for lunch at the Red Hill Dairy. If you're just driving, it's quick. If you stop for hiking and photo ops you can take 2 days. The Flume is very nice but it's a lot cheaper to hike to Arethusa Falls.
There's plenty of nice areas, the trick during foliage season is to find the nice areas where it's not crowded.
