Houston or Atlanta
I have employment opportunities in both Houston & Atlanta. I've heard that Houston has flooding every year. Please let me know which city do you prefer in term of housing cost, weather, and traffic.
Thanks so much

Certain sections of Houston have flooding from time to time.
Atlanta has ice storms.
Some sections of Atlanta have terrible traffic, ditto for Houston. A lot will depend on where your place of business would be and where you would like to live.

I lived outside of Houston from 1990 - 1994 & 1997 - 2005 in The Woodlands (aka Stepfordville) & later in Magnolia area (loved it). Yes, areas flood in the city when there's a heavy sudden rain, but it's not like river banks that overflow for miles where flooding lasts for days; it's usually a quick hit to low-lying areas (esp.freeway under-passes) that receeds in a few hours. Use good sense & you'll be ok. Yes, it's hot & humid in the summer with hurricanes occasionally hitting the coast -- not all that big of a deal if you're mid-city or north. As with any other area, check the elevation of where you decide to live to be sure you're not in a flood plain, etc. You will seldom have to worry about ice in this area; winters are very mild. If you're young/single & looking to live in 'the city', housing will be far more expensive but TX has about the BEST cost of living & housing anywhere in the U.S. Houston is a HUGE area; you've got to spend time there to get the feel of all the different sections & I strongly recommend that before buying a home. NW, NE, SE, SW & inside the loop -- each has it's own ups & downs. If the salaries for the 2 areas are comparable, you're $ will go much farther in TX. As far as traffic goes, you'll have that anywhere you go; I avoid it by adjusting my hours to not travel between 7 & 8 am. I would encourage you to go with whichever city best fits your lifestyle. Good luck!

Hi everyone,
I have employment opportunities in both Dallas & Atlanta. I have couple months to decide which city should I move to. I want to know about Living Cost (House Price...), Weather & Traffic. I would appreciate your time very much if you could let me know which city is better in general in your opinion.
Thanks so much
