Hotels near Rentschler Field in Hartford

I'm going to see the Rolling Stones in Hartford in late August. I live about 2 and a half hours away from Hartford so I want to stay in a safe convenient hotel near the field. Does any body have any ideas?

I've discovered that the Holiday Inn is within walking distance to the field, but is sold out. Does anyone know anything about the Wellesley Inn? Any other suggestions?

Just checked with a friend. She says the Sheraton is OK. Not what you might normally expect, but safe and clean. Given that you are going to the Stones Concert, you may want to get away from the noiseof folks partying.... the new Marriott at the convention center may be open in August.

I haven't stayed at that particular Wellesley Inn, but have stayed at others on business trips in the Northeast, and my general impression hasn't been that favorable; at best, they tend to be minimally acceptable by my standards for business travel. No cleaner or better maintained than they absolutely have to be, with a somewhat downmarket clientele, in my experience. They're often among the cheapest options in any given area, and from what I've seen, there's a reason for that. I certainly wouldn't book one for a personal stay for myself unless it were the only viable option.

Wellsley inn is convenient, well lit, but generally a dump. It's convenient to a mexican restaurant across the street and right on the highway.

You can do worse, but should be able to do better. Downtown Hartford isn't that far and there are nicer hotels there.

Thanks everyone, for all the info! Sounds like we're in for an adventure. Keep your fingers crossed that we can convince the rest of the party to stay downtown! Thanks again.

Just to let you know, I answered this in a response to your other post, about restaurants.

Tho' one addition to what I said there, would be the Hilton in Glastonbury.

Hi,

We do have reservations at the Welleslely which is now a Day's Inn.

But wondering:

Which is the new Marriott? Farmington? Trubull? I think it's near a convention center.

And if I bid on Priceline, and nothing is available in East Hartford, would it be convenient to rebid Downtown? Or elsewhere?

Thanks.

The new Marriott is in downtown Hartford, adjacent to the Convention Center, just off 91. It's a 10 minute drive to Rentschler. They are opening the week of 8/22. The Sheraton is just fine - and that's a bit closer. Other hotels in downtown are the Marriott Residence Inn, the Hartford Hilton, recently completely refurbished, the HI Crowne Plaza and the Goodwin Hotel (small boutique, upscale). Downtown has some great restaurants, so if dining is on the agenda, downtown is your choice!

I agree with viv555. Downtown Hartford is only a couple of miles away and it's easy to get on and off the highway from there. Plus, it's a small city so it's easy to get around; your friends should be fine. There are plenty of hotels to choose from downtown as well as a wide range of great restaurants. There's also plenty of things to see and do in the city after the concert so head downtown and have a great time!

The Hilton Garden Inn, Glastonbury would be ideal - nearby, convenient to highway, new, clean and comfortable

The Hilton worked out great. Great meal at Trumbull Kitchen down the street. The concert was the best. Excellent weekend. Thanks again for the help.
